The Chiba Lotte Marines was formed in October of 1991, when the team moved their hometown from Kawasaki City. The team is known for the unique cheering style of the fans – who are said to have the "best manners"in Japan.

  Formed as the Orions when the Mainichi Newspaper Company joined the Japan Baseball Association

  Mainichi and Daiei merge, creating the Daimai Orions

  A partnership is formed with Lotte, making the team nickname the Lotte Orions.

  The team is sold to Lotte

  Team moves from Tokyo/Miyagi to Kanagawa, and the hometown becomes Kawasaki City

  Chiba City becomes the new hometown, and the team nickname becomes the Marines
