The Chiba Lotte Marines was formed in October of 1991, when the team moved their hometown from Kawasaki City. The team is known for the unique cheering style of the fans – who are said to have the "best manners"in Japan.

Formed as the Orions when the Mainichi Newspaper Company joined the Japan Baseball Association - 1950
Japan Series champions - 1957
Mainichi and Daiei merge, creating the Daimai Orions - 1964
The team is nicknamed the Tokyo Orions./li> - 1969
A partnership is formed with Lotte, making the team nickname the Lotte Orions. - 1971
The team is sold to Lotte - 1974
Japan Series champions - 1977
Team moves from Tokyo/Miyagi to Kanagawa, and the hometown becomes Kawasaki City - 1991
Chiba City becomes the new hometown, and the team nickname becomes the Marines - 2005
