Volunteer Favorites
~Chiba City Museum of Art Collection~

This exhibit is planned and executed by the 30+ volunteers in the CCMA. The artwork shown were voted on by these volunteers, and offers the rare chance to see some of the most famous pieces in the museum side by side.
Uragami Gyokudou Exhibit
11.03.06 (Fri) - 12.03.06 (Sun)
Uragami Gyokudou(1745-1820) was a man who left his life as a Samurai to travel the country and pursue the arts of poetry, painting, and music (koto) during the Edo period. This exhibit features a total of 150 exhibit pieces, which includes not only his representative works, but also related materials such as the seven-string koto that the artist loved.
Part 1: Kusama Yayoi and Japanese Artists of New York

Focusing on Kusama Yayoi, this exhibit will feature artists that moved to the United States in the late 1950s, and created artwork in New York. Other artists include Arakawa Shuusaku and Shinohara Ushio.
Part 2: Satou Gallery 1955-1981

Young artists from around Japan gathered at a gallery in Ginza to talk to each other about their artwork and future dreams. Please enjoy this collection, which was donated to our museum.
Takehisa Yumeji Exhibit
01.20.07 (Sat) - 02.25.07 (Sun)
Takehisa Yumeji is popular even now for his melancholic portraits of women, adorable drawings of children, and highly original designs. This exhibit reveals this modern multi-artist in his entirety, who expressed total freedom of art through 200 of his representative works.
Suzuki Gako
~Local Artist From the Bakumatsu Era~

Suzuki Gako (1816-1870) was born in the current Funabashi City area. This exhibit is the first attempt to fully introduce this artist, who is the grandfather to the brothers Ishii Hakutei and Tsuruzo.
38th Chiba City Residents’ Exhibit
03.03.07 (Sat) - 03.23.07 (Fri)
As a part of the Residents’ Art Festival, 1000 pieces of art by members of the Chiba City Art Association and the public will be displayed in seven categories. (Free Admission)
