Quezon City

The Former Capital with Many Government Organizations, A Key Part of Metro Manila

Quezon City is located in central Luzon, the largest island in the Philippine archipelago. Bordering the northeast of the capital of Manila, it is the former capital of the Republic of the Philippines.

Construction of Quezon City began in 1940, and the city was named after then-President Manuel Quezon. In July 1948, it was officially designated as the capital, before the capital was returned to Manila, which had been the capital since the Spanish colonization.

The city is divided by a highway, where one side is the downtown of shops and residential areas, and the other includes government institutions such as the Department of Environment and Natural Resources and the Philippine Nuclear Research Institute, medical institutions, and national universities, reflecting its character as an educational city.
