| ABOUT THIS GUIDE Chiba City is in an ideal location, with convenient access to the city of Tokyo, the many beaches throughout Chiba Prefecture, Tokyo Disneyland/Disney Sea, and the Narita International Airport. However, its proximity to so many famous destinations causes the city itself to be often overlooked as a tourist destination, despite having attractions of its own. I moved to Chiba City on August 9, 2006 to begin my job as the new Coordinator for International Relations at the city hall. Like many people, the only thing I knew about Chiba City upon my arrival was that it was close to both the airport and to Disneyland. Throughout the last two months however, I found out that there was a lot more to my new home. Unfortunately, there are very few foreign language resources available describing this city, save for a few lines mentioned in descriptions of the "greater Tokyo area." Through my work, I was given the opportunity to visit major facilities and destinations of Chiba City, interview the personnel at these locations, and to compile an English tourism guide on this website. Being from overseas myself, I will hopefully be able to create a guide from a different perspective from the already available Japanese resources. Please enjoy the impressions of Chiba City through the eyes of a CIR. I hope that this page will help you discover the Chiba City you never knew!
