Shell Mounds Museum When I visited the shell mounds museum, I was struck by the shape of the ancient dwellings. They looked so similar to the Irish dwellings, with thatched conical rooves. The Kasori Shell Mounds were found in Wakaba Ward, which isn’t too far from the Sakatsuki River. Craggaunowen is also located close to the River Shannon, so it is clear that dwellers in both areas depended on water as an important resource.
