地勢

千葉市の位置

千葉市の地図

千葉市は、東経140度7分、北緯35度36分に位置し、千葉県のほぼ中央部にあたり、首都東京まで約40kmの地点にあります。
また、県内幹線道路及びJR・私鉄などの鉄道の起点として、さらに情報通信網の起終点として、県都にふさわしい要衝の地にあります。

千葉市の構成と面積

千葉市6区の地図

千葉市は中央区・花見川区・稲毛区・若葉区・緑区・美浜区の6区からなり、面積は271.76平方キロメートル(令和2年10月1日現在)です。
気候は温暖で、平成21年の年間平均気温は16.3度、年間降水量は1637mmとなっています。
また、千葉市の地形は、緑豊かな下総台地の平坦地におおわれ、その一部は、東京湾に接しており、温暖な気候と肥沃な土地、豊かな緑と水辺など自然環境に大変恵まれています。

市章

市章(緑)(大正10年5月8日告示)

千葉市章は、千葉市の開祖、千葉氏の月星の紋章からとったものです。千葉氏の紋章は月星・九曜星の併用ですが、この月星に千葉の「千」を入れて、大正10年に市制施行を記念して本市の市章としました。

City Emblem(Made official on May 8th, 1921)
Chiba City is named after its founder, whose moon and star Coat of Arms is now the official city emblem. In combination with the founder’s coat of arms, the emblem also contains the first of two characters used when writing “Chiba”, which was declared the official city emblem at its ceremonial founding in 1921.

コミュニケーションマーク

コミュニケーションマーク(平成3年12月1日告示)

弧を描く円は6つの区を表し、千葉に集まる人、もの、情報の活発な交流とコミュニケーションを表しています。また、成長し続ける先端情報の発信基地である新しい千葉のイメージを表現しています。

Communication Mark(Made official on December 1st, 1991)
The six circles that dramatically project outward in an arc are representative of Chiba City’s six wards and symbolizes its people and resources, as well as the active flow and exchange of information that takes place within the City. Further, this mark stands for Chiba City’s new image as a growing place for advanced information technology.

市の花木 キョウチクトウ

キョウチクトウ(昭和45年1月制定/キョウチクトウ科・常緑低木)

インド原産で、夏に紅色や白の美しい花を咲かせます。葉が狭く花がモモの花に似ているので漢名を夾竹桃といい、日本名はこれに基づいています。

City flowering tree― the Oleander
The Oleander is a tree indigenous to India,and bears beautiful red and white flower which blossom in the summer. The tree is called "kyochikuto" in Chineese due to its narrow leaves and flowers which resemble those of a peach tree. The Japanese name is also based on this similarity.

市の花 オオガハス

オオガハス(平成5年4月29日制定/ハス科・多年草)

市内検見川で発掘された古代ハスの実を故大賀一郎博士が発芽・育成したものです。世界に誇る古代のロマンを秘めたハスとして、本市の象徴ともなっており、昭和29年に千葉県の天然記念物に指定されています。
花期:6月下旬~7月ごろ

City Flower―the Oga Lotus(Perennial in the Lotus family)
The Oga Lotus is an ancient variety of Lotus that was germinated and cultivated by the late Dr. Ichiro Oga, from seeds excavated at an archaeological site on the Hanamigawa river. As a source of pride and on archaeological wonder containing the mysteries of the ancient world, the Oga Lotus was made the official flower of Chiba City, and was also designated as a natural treasure by Chiba Prefecture in 1954.

市の木 ケヤキ

ケヤキ(平成5年4月29日制定/ニレ科・落葉樹)

太くまっすぐな幹にほうき状に立ったこずえ。端正で雄大な姿のケヤキは、本市の保存樹林として本数が一番多い木でもあり、古くから人の暮らしと深い関わりをもっています。

City Tree―Zelkova(Deciduous tree of the Elmaceous family)
With its thick, broad trunk and its upward-spreading tree-top that resembles a broom, the attractive and magnificent Zelkova has long been a part of people’s everyday lives.

市の鳥 コアジサシ

コアジサシ(平成5年4月29日制定/チドリ目カモメ科)

春から秋にかけて海岸で繁殖する渡り鳥で、餌を求めて海岸などでダイビングをする姿が見かけられます。カモメの一種で希少種とされています。

City Bird―the Little Tern(Gull of the Plover variety)
The Little Tern is a migrating species of bird that nests along the seashore from spring until fall. It can be seen diving along the seashore in search of food. The Little Tern is a species in the Gull family and is considered an endangered species.
