If your company has reduced your working hours and you are not being paid, you can receive financial help from the government.

Low income, single-parent households can receive financial help from the city. To apply, contact the Child and Domestic Affairs section of the ward office of the ward you live in.

Households that have children and who are economically struggling can receive financial help from the city.
*You cannot receive this if you have the received the “Special livelihood support benefits for low-income households raising children (for single-parent households)”.

Support System for School Related Expenses 【Chiba City】

You can receive financial aid if you have a child who is attending a public elementary or junior high school and you are struggling to pay for necessary school expenses. Please ask your child’s school for more details.

Small Emergency Loans/Special Comprehensive Support Loans 【Chiba Council of Social Welfare】(外部サイトへリンク)

People who got dismissed from work or who stopped working because of COVID-19 can receive loans to help cover basic expenses. If you want receive these loans please call the Council of Social Welfare of the ward you live in.

COVID-19 Self-Support Benefit for those in Financial Hardship 【Chiba City】

People can receive financial help if they are in financial hardship but cannot receive special loans such as Small Emergency Loans.

*Not available by telephone on holidays

Welfare loans for single parents and widows 【Chiba City】

Loans are available for single-parent families that need money. Contact the Child and Domestic Affairs Division of the ward office of the ward you live in for more details.

Consultation Center for Work & Independent Living 【Chiba City】

Consultations are available if you are struggling with daily life or your job. Please go to the center that is closest to where you live.

Postponement, reduction, or exemption from paying public utility charges

If you are unable to pay your public utility charges, you can get a postponement, get the amount to pay reduced, or get exempted from paying them. See the link below to find out where and how to contact.

Welfare System

People who are unable to pay fees such as rent or daily expenses can receive the necessary money (public assistance benefits) to help cover their daily living expenses. Contact the Social Support Services Division of the ward office of the ward you live in for more details.
