Public Transportation | Bicycles & Cars | Lost & Found
In Chiba City, transportation is available via train, monorail, bus, etc.
If you use the train, monorail, or bus to travel repeatedly to a certain destination regularly, it is convenient and economical to purchase a commuter pass, coupon tickets, or an IC card, which can be used on all three transportation methods mentioned above.
A commuter pass allows you to board the train at any station within a section of a train line for a specific period of time (one, three, or six months for the train; one or three months for the bus), at a discounted price. Student discounts are also available (student identification is necessary).
Coupon tickets are typically sold in an 11-ticket booklet for the price of 10 regular tickets.
An IC card is a single card that can be used to pay for train, monorail, and bus fare. It can double as a commuter pass, and a bus fare discount service is available, which provides automatic fare discounts.
Passes, coupon tickets, and IC cards may be purchased at sales windows at train stations and bus service offices.
To use the bicycle parking lot near train stations, you must complete the registration procedures at the Consultation Unit of the Community Safety Office (Community Promotion Division) at the corresponding ward office, or the management office of the bicycle parking lot. Parking lots can be used regularly over a one-month period, or on just one occasion. Fees apply in both cases. However, some bicycle parking lots can be used free of charge. Please call for more information. Please do not leave your bicycle parked on the street.
Driver’s license centers grant driver's licenses and perform license transfers. Generally speaking, if you have a driver's license from your own country, you can obtain a Japanese one (driver's licenses from certain countries are not transferrable). Please contact the driving license center for details in Japanese.
