南小弓城堡遗迹

千叶氏的家宰原氏为了守卫小弓城堡而筑起的支城

战国时代，小弓（生实）地区的南北两方曾有过两个小弓城堡。现今为止，这个南小弓城堡被认为要比北小弓（生实）城堡（中央区生实町）古老，且是小弓公方足利义明的第宅。但是，经过发掘调查等发现，小弓城堡在15世纪后半叶就已存在，义明作为据点使用的是小弓城堡。
南小弓城堡没有经过发掘调查，虽然建城时期不明确，但是，相当于本丸的主城郭（古城附近）周围以前曾有过壕、土垒的形态、建造有为守卫中鼻（原）地区的出入口的设施—马出状城郭，从这些来看，可以判断南小弓城堡建造于16世纪半叶之后的可能性很大。
战国时代后期，替代把本根据地转移到本佐仓城（酒酒井町，佐仓市）的千叶氏，小弓地区由千叶氏的家宰（第一重臣）原氏来统治。但是，意在一统整个东京湾沿岸地区的安房国的里见氏也瞄准了这个地区。双方不断地进行了激烈战斗。小弓地区是水陆交通要地，对千叶氏也非常重要，是无论如何也要保住的一块领地。南小弓城就是为了守卫小弓城堡，抵挡从上总方面的进攻，原氏下令在这个时期建造的。

미나미 오유미성터

치바 가문의 가재였던 하라 씨가 오유미성을 지키기 위해 건축한지성*

전국시대, 오유미 지역에는 남북으로 두 곳의 오유미성이 존재했습니다.
지금까지 남쪽에 위치한 미나미 오유미성이 북쪽 오유미성(주오구 오유미마치)보다 이미 오래전부터 존재했으며, 오유미쿠보(小弓公方)인 아시카가 요시아키의 관저도 이 곳에 있었던 것으로 추측되어 왔습니다. 그러나 발굴조사 등을 통해, 오유미성은 15세기 후반 경부터 존재했으며, 요시아키가 거점으로 삼았던 것도 오유미성이었음이 밝혀졌습니다.

미나미 오유미성은 발굴조사가 이루어지 않아 성립시기는 불분명하지만, 혼마루(성의 핵심이 되는 건물)에 해당하는 주곽(「고성」부근) 주변에 이미 존재했던 해자나 토루의 형태, 나카하나(하라)지구에 있는 출입구를 지키기 위한 시설(馬出状曲輪)등의 배치를 고려해 볼 때, 16세기 중반 이후에 축조되었을 가능성이 있습니다.

전국시대 후기, 모토사쿠라성(시스이마치・사쿠라시)으로 본거지를 옮긴 치바 씨를 대신해, 오유미 지역은 치바 씨의 가재(중신의 으뜸가는 사람)인 하라 씨가 통치하고 있었습니다. 그러나, 도쿄만 연안 일대의 제압을 노리고 있던 아와국의 사토미 씨도 이 지역 진출을 노리고 있었기 때문에 치열한 전투가 반복되었습니다. 수륙 교통의 요충지인 오유미 지역은 치바 씨에게 있어 매우 중요한 지역으로, 어떻게든 지키고 싶었던 영지였습니다. 미나미 오유미성은, 오유미성을 지키기 위해 가즈사방면으로의 견제를 목적으로, 이 시기에 하라 씨에 의해 축조되었을 것으로 생각됩니다.

하라 씨는, 사토미 씨에 대항하기 위해, 사토미 씨를 적대하고 있던 오다와라의 호조 씨와 결속하였고, 그 결과, 보소에서 호조 씨 측의 유력한 세력이 되어 갔습니다.

결국 사토미 씨와의 싸움이 종결되어, 하라 씨가 오유미 지역의 지배권을 완전히 되찾기까지, 덴쇼5년(서기 1577년) 호조 씨와 사토미 씨의 화해를 기다려야만 했습니다.

Site of Minami-Oyumi Castle

A secondary castle built to protect Oyumi Castle located in the north by the retainer of the Chiba Clan, the Hara clan

During the Warring States Period, there were actually two Oyumi Castles which existed in the north and south of the Oyumi region. Up until this time, it was said that the Minami-Oyumi Castle was built before the northern Oyumi Castle (in Oyumi-chō, Chuo Ward), and it was thought that Imperial palace of Oyumi  Kubō Ashikaga Yoshiaki was located there. However, an excavation revealed that northern Oyumi Castle had been in existence since the latter half of the 15th century and that Yoshiaki actually used the northern Oyumi Castle as his headquarters.
The excavation of Minami-Oyumi Castle has not yet been carried out, so it is not known when it was established. Upon further investigation of the layout and structure of the moat and embankments which once existed around the main enclosure, as well as the structure of the defense mechanisms protecting the entrance and exit, it seems possible that the castle could have been constructed after the middle of the 16th century.
During the latter stages of the Warring States Period, the Chiba Clan relocated to Motosakura Castle (Shisui Town, Sakura City) and the Hara Clan, which was the chief retainer of the Chiba Clan (the chief vassal), governed the Oyumi region. However, the Satomi Clan from the Awa Province, wanted to expand its territory and seize control of the Tokyo Bay Coastline, which led to many fierce battles. The Oyumi region was a very important area for the Chiba Clan as it was the focal point of both land and water transportation, which led to the region becoming the target of many attacks. It is believed that Minami-Oyumi Castle was constructed by the Hara Clan to protect Oyumi Castle from attacks and pressure from the Kazusa Province.
In order to fend off the Satomi Clan, the Hara Clan became allies with the Hōjō Clan of Odawara, who also held a grudge against the Satomi Clan, resulting in the Hōjō Clan becoming a force to be reckoned with in Bōsō. The battle with the Satomi Clan finally ceased, but the Hara Clan had to wait until the reconciliation of the Hōjō Clan and the Satomi Clan in 1577, before they could fully regain control over the Oyumi region.
